Rant: Kids should play real games.

Alright. So... Today I am eating out with a bunch of my friends. You know, at a restaurant. Now, the food was great and everything was good, except for one single thing. This kid, who looked to be around 10, was playing with an iPod touch. This annoyed me (although it probably shouldn't have, but whatever).

The part that bugs me about this is that the 10 year old should be playing a real game. You know, on a PSP or a DS (ANY version is fine, honestly). When I was around that boy's age, I was playing my Game Boy Color, a real gaming system. I have nothing against iOS games, but they should be mini things you play while waiting for a bus or something, not your portable gaming choice.

For kids to grow up into real gamers, we need to see them playing real games. 99 cent games are good for quick things, but not for serious gaming. If this kid grows up thinking that the small games are the way of the future, then we're gonna have some real crap games later in life.

Basically, don't give your kid some crap game. Give him something good to play, it'll probably keep his attention a lot longer.
