I love my iPod.
No, really. I love it. I get the power of the app store, and no stupid iPhone.
Today I am going to discuss a little game that is now on the iDevices, Rock Band Reloaded.
This is the second Rock Band title to hit the app store, with the first one just being called "Rock Band". The differences are very noticeable quickly into playing the first song. The first one had you told your Phone/Pod vertically. Reloaded uses landscape mode.
Personally, I prefer vertical, but more people like the landscape mode more. And sadly, there is no option to make it vertical, which is messing me up.
I'm not going to go too into detail, but reloaded also has an Expert difficulty, unlike the first Rock Band, which only went to hard.
...And, I am far too tired to type more. So, see you later.

PC Gaming - I now can.
So. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, I was able to pick up a quality laptop that can run PC games. So far, all I have is Left 4 Dead, but that is all I really want. I'll be sure to pick up a legit copy of Unreal Tournament, too. Other than that, I'll get Super Meat Boy when it goes on sale, plus anything else that might hit a sale and be awesome.
Anyways, I am keeping this post short, since I wanna do other things. But I do want to put up new stuff more, so I am.
I'll post more stuff when I feel like writing out more, but writing a paper last week drained me of wanting to write anything. D=

What could I possibly be thankful for? [Explicit words, oh noes]
I don't know, actually. I have no idea what I am thankful for anymore. I could go with the simple things like "games" and "being alive" and other simple (and obvious) things, but I would like to think I am thankful for something deeper than that... but I'm probably not. So what am I really thankful for? Well, you can find out after reading about GAMES.
So. Games.
We all play them. Every one of us. At work, in bed, or even when sleeping. I swear I had a dream where I was playing Brawl and owning with Falco, laughing at people (Since I am a huge shit-talker when it comes to video games). At work I would sit there and make a game out of putting folders away (actually, I was fixing the order, since people are lazy fucks who can't be bothered with putting a number back in order, but expect that folder to be back in order when they come back). And well, there are games to be played in bed, providing you are willing to not be so damn plain and just sex it up.
Well, games I have played are mainly of the portable nature, considering I have still not found a place to live, so my Wii and PS2 get no lovin'. However, my DS and PSP are getting tons of action. Even my iPod touch is getting a lot of action, which is great for me.
So, since you might be wondering what games I have been actually playing, I'll list them here, which a short note of what I have done in said game:
PSP:
-Dissidia Final Fantasy - Got my first level 100 (Onion Knight).
-Secret Agent Clank - Beat once. Gonna go through and beat it like 5 more times, like I did with Size Matters (Wrote a FAQ for it on GFAQs)
-Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3 - Unlocked the rest of the stuff I was missing.
DS:
-Wario: Master of Disguise - I'm going to put up a review of this game once I beat it.
-Sonic Rush Adventure - I figured I would play a Sonic game for the fact that Colors came out, but wanna play Colors on the Wii, not DS.
-Jump! Ultimate Stars - Considering this is an imported game, I have played a bunch of matches with friends locally. Suck it, Japan.
iPod Touch:
-Game Dev Story - Going to write a review for this one. Beat it twice, just wanna do one more before I write it up.
-Angry Birds - Yeah. I bought it. Ugh. Too much hype. Very fun game, though.
-Linkin Park Revenge - Did I mention I am a Linkin Park fan? I'm pretty sure I did. And if I didn't, I just did.
You can find updates and more games I am playing here: http://bit.ly/backlogbags
Now... To Thanksgiving. It's the day before it and am not really thankful for much. I mean, I am thankful for my awesome friends on and offline that have been helping me and keeping me sane through all the shit I have been through, regardless of the fact that some don't even know the half of it... and I think I am gonna end there. E-thankfulness looks like crap when I read it back. It's better just to say it in person, and since I won't be doings vlogs anytime in the distant future, you can all go without.
See you guys. I'll post more often, too.

Review: Monster Dash
Platform: iPhone/iPod Touch
Genre: Action/Platformer
Publisher: Halfbrick Studios
Developer: Halfbrick Studios
Release Date: August 19, 2010
Ever wanted to go running through a world with no public transportation with a shotgun in hand? What if it was a portable experience on your phone (or iPod)?
Interested yet? I was.
Monster Dash is a very simple action game, with only two controls, jumping and shooting. By holding your device of choice (For me, it's my iPod Touch) horizontally, you get two touch sensitive spots in the bottom corners of the screen. The left corner is for jumping, while the right corner is for shooting. Dependent on how long you hold your finger down on these spots, your jump and shooting (to a degree) are effected. For example, the longer you hold down on the jump button, the higher your jump. The same can be said with the weapons, but more on that later.
Movement is not a concern, as you are automatically moving from left to right, side-scrolling through 4 different environments (That change every 1000m). The catch is that you have to jump over random obstacles, like spikes and gaps between buildings. The speed increases as you are taken to new areas, so after 4000km, it starts getting tougher. In my experience, the speed before then is no problem.
Another small catch is the enemies (Which would be too easy if there weren't any). Each environment has it's own enemy, to fit with the theme. You can jump on top of enemies and bounce off their heads in a Mario kind of style, or you can blow through them with your weapon of choice. Or combine them both for even more fun.
Which leads me to the weapons. You always carry a shotgun, which has a short range, but works pretty decently for just about any situation. There are 5 weapons besides the shotgun, however they have a limited set of bullets and have to be picked up along the way (Originally 4, but between starting this review and posting it, Halfbrick added a 5th weapon). They are all very fun to use, and I won't spoil any of them if you want it to be a surprise, but I am sure you can find a video if you really wanna see.
The game itself had a lot of care put into it, with the sounds and music being just as important as the visuals. Down to the small things, like seeing the shell casing fly from your gun after every shotgun round, to hearing a very catchy little tune being used for the game, remixed for each environment you are in. As a plus, you can even play your own music in the background and turn off the in-game music if you want, since it can get old if you play this too much.
I can't say this game doesn't have it's flaws, however. It seems like the weapon boxes and hearts you collect (You get three hearts, meaning you take three hits to die) are sometimes just placed in such a way that it's almost impossible to get, especially at the higher speeds, where a simple misclick of the jump button could be your doom. Occasionally, the enemies will appear from above or come out of the ground, and again, at those higher speeds, you can't avoid them without godly reflexes, which might be a turn-off for some of you. It's a trade-off for it becoming so fast-paced, but it should be a little more manageable.
This game is a worthwhile pick-up for all gamers with an iDevice, since it's so cheap and is pretty fun to just play every now and then. With the support of OpenFeint, achievements and leader boards even give you more to shoot for while playing, and most you will stumble across while just playing for fun anyways. Even with the flaws, this is still a very great game with a lot of fun moments, even in dying.
Score: 8.5/10.

Mods and Gaming
Everyone loves a good mod to add to a game that they love, just to make it even better, right? Well, today, after a long time without an update, I am going to post a little something about a few games that have mods or are mods of a very special game.
For starters, I am going to speak of a game that has the word "Mod" in it's name: ModNation Racers. Being Sony's second user created content paradise, it's also a very fun kart racer. I'm not going to do a full on review or anything(at least not at the moment, though you may see some reviews go up here very shorty), but I want to just talk of it very shortly.
Sony's first attempt at a user created paradise was LittleBigPlanet, a game that I haven't yet played. However, since picking up ModNation Racers, I'll be sure to pick it up eventually. ModNation Racers is a blast, letting you customize and create characters, karts, and even tracks, all of which can be put online for others to play, download, and see at any time over the Playstation Network. This pretty much ensures that you have infinite playability, which is an amazing thing. I have only seen the PSP version of this game, but it has a lot of creation options in it. I can only imagine that the PS3 version has even more to offer.
Now it's time to speak of one of my favorite games in ever: Super Smash Bros Brawl. If any of you follow my backlog, you would have noticed that I have a Wii now. With that Wii, I have three very great games; Super Smash Bros Brawl, No More Heroes, and Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Not getting off topic, I am going to just say that Brawl is a blast to play. In fact, it is the most played game at my college, where people are always waiting to play Brawl and show who is the king. However, Brawl by itself can get old, so there are some awesome people out there that have created Brawl mods/hacks.
The one I want to speak of now is Brawl Minus. Brawl Minus is a throwback to Melee, using some of the physics we loved in that game, but mainly sticking to Brawl physics, allowing players to go back and forth between the hack and the original without much trouble. The real improvement is the moves of the characters. All of the characters are much more broken in this mod(Examples: MetaKnight has no freefall, Bowser doesn't flinch, Peach can float twice, etc) and they fixed some stupid things that no one really wanted (ex: No one trips).
I don't have the mod on my own Wii, but I did play it quite a lot at my college last semester. I won't hack my own Wii until the Warranty is out, which will be in about another 6 months.
Anyway, mods may not be the most legal thing ever, but they sure are fun, and they shouldn't have much problem if you bought the game and system and want more replayability from it. Now, if you illegally download the whole game, that's a different story (and a whole other post).
That's all for now.
